May 15th 2012

Today was like any other day, with nothing really happening but after school I had my Mock Interview. I was really starting to feel the pressure of it because I get so nervous sometime that I just curl up into a little ball and I can't talk properly. My interview was at 9pm and Mr. Corcoran said that's it's best if we were there about 15 minutes before the interview. I went home and had my dinner and then I went up to try see what clothes went together. In the end I ended up wearing black trousers, purple heels, blue silky top and black cardigan. I was looking at myself in the mirror with them clothes on and my hair and make-up were done and I liked it and my legs looked really long because of the heals and trousers.

My dad dropped me up to the school at about 8:45, and Mr. Corcoran came over to me and said "Thought you weren't coming" and I just laughed and started to walk away and he said "Fashionably late" :L My interview was in room 29 so when I went there, I just sat on the chair outside the room and waited. I was shaking like a leaf. Alex cam over to me and sat down because interview was tomorrow and she was helping out with Tuesday's interviews. She sat with me for ages because Norma was till in the room. Alex was trying to calm me down and saying that it'll be fine and don't worry, so I started to calm down a little.

I didn't get called until about 9:15, and then the door opened and a man called my name. I stood up, went over and shook his hand and tried to walk into the room looking really confident. I shook the woman's hand and then sat down. A part of me wanted to move the chair back because I felt I was too close them. The room looked empty with all the tables and chair staked up against the walls and just 2 tables and 2 chairs for the interviewers and a chair in front where I was sitting. There was only 2 things I was worried about, not having any eye contact with them and fidgeting with my hands. I tried to answer all of their questions correctly and didn't move my hands, didn't play with my hair, etc. They guy was scarier than the woman because he had really weird eyes. The woman was in the Hair and Beauty business but the guy only asked me questions about college courses and about starting my own business. The interview went on for about 20 minutes and I thought I did okay with the interview and they told me to go outside and wait. I shook their hands before I left the room and sat on the chair outside the room.

I waited for about 10 minutes and then when they called me back inside I shook their hands once again and sat down and awaited their criticism. This part was more scarier than the actual interview because they would be telling you what you did that was wrong and like what you could've done better. The man started talking about my CV and letter and asked me did I get help with them. I tried not to look too annoyed but then he went on to say how it was like an adult wrote it because it was so good. I was flattered and all I could say was "Thank you" They both went on telling me how my interview went really well and they get me some useful tips like when you want to get a job ask for unpaid work experience and then you'll get it easier. I was so pleased that they were saying loads of wonderful things about me and they even said that if this was a real job interview I would get the job because they said I acted mature and looked the part. I have to say it was a really worthwhile experience because I learned a lot from it and it was good practice for when I go to a real job interview/college interview.

My dad collected me and I went home and told my parents everything that they told me and they were both really proud of me and I felt proud of myself because I didn't think I could do it but I was just being myself and maybe that's better than trying to be someone that I'm not.
